Bulldogs survive and advance, play at 5pm VS Hamilton

The Bulldogs came off a heart-breaking walk off loss to Florence a day prior, but Butte High made the best of it, kept their heads high, dug deep and found a way to advance Friday afternoon. It was very much a defensive battle this afternoon and the Dogs gloves didn’t let them down as the D backed up the Bulldog pitching.

Trey Hansen got the nod on the mound but was replaced in the second inning by Gavin Trudgeon who took over and commanded the mound the remainder of the way.

In what was a slow start and 1-1 and 2-2 ball game for much of the afternoon, Butte high used RBI’s, good base running, and scored off bases on balls, and Sean Ossello who was hit by a pitch twice the second one resulted in forcing In the Dogs first run of the afternoon.

Junior Tyler Duffey laid down a perfect sac bunt to get another run on the board, he also caught a fantastic game.

The Lions runs came early and while they did have runners in scoring position throughout the afternoon, they didn’t score the remainder of the game.

After a pickle ensued the Dogs would score two more runs off wild thrown balls, and then again off a dropped 3rd strike rule allowing the runner to make a dash for first and scoring another run to make it 4-2 Butte High.

Senior and DH Zach Tierney hit a laser in the bottom of the 6th to drive in 2 RBIs off a double between 3rd and short. Gavin Trudgeon would take it from there and closing things down in the top of the 7th bases would be loaded but the Dogs kept their head and finished the job.

They survive and advance to play @ 5pm tonight at 3 Legends Stadium vs the Hamilton Broncs.
