Bulldogs put 13 on All-State team

The 2013 Butte High football team has 13 All-State selections.

The Class AA postseason awards were officially released today, and the Bulldogs received three first-team selections and 11 honorable mentions.

Senior quarterback Dallas Cook, the 2012 offensive MVP, earned first-team honors. So did two of his receivers, junior Dalton Daum and senior Peter Granger.

Cook, who owns the career and single-season school records in every major passing category, passed for 4,033 yards and 40 touchdowns in 2013. He also ran for 858 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Still, Cook lost out on the MVP award to Bozeman quarterback Will Weyer, who led the Hawks to the state championship. Weyer was one of 17 Hawks on the All-State team. Of those, 14 are seniors.

Cook and Weyer were offensive co-MVPs of the Eastern AA all-conference team, which came out Wednesday. Bozeman’s Will Dissly earned All-State defensive MVP honors.

Daum, who already holds the school record in receptions (127), receiving yards (2,044) and receiving touchdowns (25), caught 67 passes for 1,114 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2013.

Daum also received an honorable mention as a punt returner

Granger, who did not play football as a junior, returned to the gridiron and caught 64 passes for 899 yards and six touchdowns.

Four Butte High players received an honorable mention on the offensive side.

Senior running back Jake Eisenbarth was mentioned after running for 663 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 327 yards and five touchdowns.

Sophomore receiver Paul Campbell took home an honorable mention after busting onto the scene with 57 catches for 806 yards and four TDs.

On the offensive line, senior guard Tanner Dorr and senior center Dustin LaMiaux received an honorable mention after leading Butte High’s high-scoring offense up front.

Six Bulldogs received an honorable mention on the defensive side of the ball.

Seniors Johnny Walker and Connor Lee received mention as defensive lineman, while senior linebackers Mason Woods and Tyler Earles got a scratch at linebacker.

Also, senior Chase Plum made the team at cornerback, and junior Clay Dean received a mention at safety.
