The Butte High Bulldogs Volleyball team opened the Western AA Divisional tournament against the #! Seed Helena High. The Dogs came out on fire pushing the 14-0 Bengals in the opening set, showing they could play with the rest, with a 30-28 victory.
The girls in purple rallied time and time again in the set and surprised the Bengals with tenacious team play.
Helena re-grouped and took the next to games in the match with identical 25-15 scores. The Bengals finished the match with a fourth game 25-18 score to move on to todays semi-final.
The Bulldogs were led at the net by Laura Rosenleaf with 10 kills, Ashlyn Burnett put down 7 spikes, Averie Olsen and Mickenzie Mcintyre had 6 each.
Olsen served up 3 ace serves while Jaycee Cleveland added 2 more for the Bulldogs. Cleveland also dished out 25 assists and dug 18 to join with Camille Kautzman 23, and Olsen 19, to dig up the Bengal attempts.
The Bulldogs showed the rest of the West that they are to be reckoned with. The Bulldogs will play at 11:00 today in the Big Sky gym against the tournaments 5th seed Kalispell Flathead. Flathead ost their opening match to Helena Capital 3 to 2 in the tournament’s second match.
