The Butte High Bulldogs travelled to Livingston on Saturday afternoon to take on the Park High Rangers. In a back-and-forth matchup, the Bulldogs came out on top 6-3. The Rangers jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first after a Carter Anderson double and a Ben Cipriani groundout. Butte High answered right back with a single up the middle by KarsenMcEwen. Quinn Cox drove in McEwen later in the inning with a sac fly.

The tie game did not last very long. Park High scored again in the bottom of the second. After that, Gavin “Eco-Boost”Trudgeon locked in. The senior delivered a gem, and he went the distance in this one, earning himself the W. He allowed 6 hits, only 3 after the second inning, and fanned 9.

Butte’s bats were not mind blowing, but their toughness and patience were. The Dogs recorded 4 walks and 8 hit by pitches. 8!! Quinn Cox and Cayde Stajcar recorded 3 each. Cox drove in 3 runs, and he did not even record a hit. He is much better at getting hit by pitches than his older brother, Reece Cox. He is the all-time leader in HBP’s in Butte High history.

Alex Jorgensen was a huge difference maker in this one. The senior went 2-3 with a double. Karsen McEwen also had a multi hit game. Tocher Lee and Logan Carden added hits as well.

The Boys in Purple will travel to Missoula for the All-Class State tournament, starting Thursday. Butte High will face the defending state champion, Polson Pirates. First pitch is scheduled for 4 pm at Ogren Field on Thursday.
