MISSOULA — Butte High’s swimming teams closed out their pre-Christmas schedule with impressive performances at the Missoula Invitationa.
“There were some good swims today,” Bulldog coach Lynn Shrader said. “Even those who weren’t in the top ten swam hard and almost every swimmer swam personal best times.”
On the girls side, Anna Trudnowski, Catherine Russo and Devin Amtmann swam to fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The same team placed fifth in the 200 medley relay.
Individually, Catherine Russo swam won the 200 freestyle and placed in the 100 free. Trudnowski took sixth in the 100 freestyle and eight in the 100 breaststroke, posting a personal-best time.
Katie Clague took 10 seconds off of her 100-yard butterfly time to place ninth, while Lexie Kautzman took 10th in the 100 free.
Zach Jonson led the Butte High boys. He placed fourth in the 500 free and sixth in the 100 butterfly. Evan Zundel captured 10th place in the 200 individual medley.
Missoula Hellgate’s boys and girls won team titles. Sentinel took second on both sides. Helena High’s boys placed third, while Helena Capital’s girls swam to third.
