Bulldogs post strong times in Bozeman pool

BOZEMAN — The Butte High boys’ and girls’ swimming teams posted solid times at the 5 B’z swim meet Saturday.

The Bulldog boys placed fifth, while the girls took sixth.

“The girls had some great top 10 swims,” Butte coach Lynn Shrader said.

Catherine Russo led the way individually for the Bulldogs. The junior won the 50- and 500-yard freestyle races.

Anna Trudnowski placed sixth in 100 backstroke and seventh in the 200 individual medley. Lexie Kautzman placed eighth in the 500 free, and Kallie Hossack placed 10th in the 50 free. Isabel Russo dropped 3 seconds off her best time to place 10th in the 100 backstroke.

Trudnowski, Hossack, Amtmann and Catherine Russo swam to second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay for the Bulldogs.

Butte High’s 200-yard medley relay team of Trudnowski, Hossack, Catherine Russo and Katie Clague took sixth place. Bulldogs Clague, Maire Ingersoll, Danika Murphy and Amtmann placed seventh in the 200 freestyle relay.

On the boys’ side, Zach Johnson posted a pair of victories, swimming to titles in the 50 and 500 freestyle races. Thad Holdsworth placed seventh in the 100 breast stroke and ninth in the 50 freestyle, and Max Holdsorth placed ninth in the 200 freestyle.

“There were many personal best times also,” Shrader said. “They are working hard, and starting to have some great personal best times.”

The Bulldogs will swim at the I-15 meet next Saturday in Great Falls.
