The Butte High Bulldogs baseball team has had a little remnants of this years basketball team as they were dubbed the heart attack kids, the same goes for football, you didn’t want to ever leave a game early.

Enter the 2024 Bulldogs baseball team, they scrapped their way to the state tournament from a play in game against Park High where they won 6-3, to setup a rematch with the defending state champion Polson Pirates. The Pirates knocked the Dogs of 5-1 earlier this year and rolled to a 14-4 regular season and number 1 seed.

The Bulldogs got the hammer first and obliterated the baseball on a pitcher who hadn’t even given up a handle full of runs in 20 innings pitched.

That changed Thursday afternoon, every Butte High starter recorded a hit in the win. Butte racked up 4 hits and 3 runs in the first inning. Butte High would go on to win 12-6 and knock off the number 1 seed and defending champs.

Cayde Stajcar had a big day at the plate going 3-3 including a double and a triple, knocking in 4 RBIs, all while crossing the plate 3 times himself. Quinn Cox was also 3-3 at the dish with 2 RBIs and a triple, Logan Carden had a triple and two RBIs, Alex Jorgensen, and Zach O’Connell all had multiple hits in the game.

Derek Dunmire improved to 4-1 on the year and the Bulldogs will face the Hamilton Broncs at 6:30 PM for the rights to go to the State Championship.
