Bulldogs meet Rustlers in regular-season finale

Butte High and Great Falls Russell will close out the regular season Monday with a doubleheader at Stodden Park.

Both games count in Eastern AA standings. Game 1 is set for 3 p.m. The second game will start at 5. The twin bill was originally scheduled for Thursday but rescheduled because of the weather forecast.

The Rustlers (9-1 in conference and 14-2 overall) have a chance at the regular-season title. The Bulldogs (8-2 and 11-8) have clinched a home playoff series.

The Bulldogs haven’t played since May 1 when they swept Billings Skyview in Billings. The Bulldogs hit four home runs in that doubleheader, with Amanda Spear, Maria Michelotti, Ashten McCloskey and Katelyn Alley going yard.

Freshman Kaidy McClafferty pitched both ends of the twin bill to improve to 9-4 on the season.

The Rustlers played three games last Tuesday in Great Falls. CMR fell 4-0 to first-place Billings West (10-1) before sweeping Billings Skyview 13-3 and 14-4.
