Butte High and Butte Central track athletes are heading in opposite directions to compete in their respective state tournaments Friday and Saturday.
The Class AA meet will be held in conjunction with the Class B meet. The Class C will be held with the Class A.
Nine of Butte High’s athletes will be competing in multiple events. None will be busier than sophomore Anna Trudnowski, who has qualified in six events.
Trudnowski’s full schedule includes the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, the 400 meters, high jump, triple jump and 1,600 meter relay.
Seniors Ally Cleverly and Gabbie Parini are also ready to go in multiple events. They are also wearing purple for their fourth straight state meet.
Cleverly will run the 100, 400 and both relays, while Parini will long jump and run the relays.
Sophomore Hailey Nielson will run the 3,200 and the 1,600 relay, and freshman Mollee Conlan will run the 100 along with the 400-meter relay.
Junior Danika Murphy is making the trip as an alternate. The rest of the Butte High girls are sophomores.
Braleigh Garrett will take a leg of the 400 relay, Allyson Mueller will run 1,600 relay, Madalynn Rhodes will throw the javelin and Taylinn Garrett will be ready to run as an alternate.
Juniors Tommy Mellott and Quinn Sullivan will combine to compete in nine events for the Butte High boys.
Mellott will run the 100, 200, 400 and 400 relay. He will also long jump. Sullivan will run the 300- and 110-meter hurdles and both relays.
Jake Vetter will run the 400, 800 and 1,600 relay, while fellow senior Josh Neill will take a leg in both relay races.
Junior Tucker Winston will compete in the 1,600 relay, sophomore Zach Merrifield will run the 400 relay, and sophomore Tanner Huff will throw the javelin. Senior Zach Carlson and sophomore Ryan Neil will be ready to go as alternates in the relays.
Lindsay McGree is the lone Butte athlete looking to defend an individual state title. The Butte Central senior won the long jump championship a year ago
McGree will also run the 100 and take a leg in the 400 relay.
Freshman Rileigh McGree will have a busy weekend in her first state tournament appearance. She will run both hurdles races and the 400 relay. She will also long jump and triple jump.
Sophomore Amira Bolton will high jump and run the 400 relay, while sophomore Cheyanne Parks will run the 400 relay.
Sophomore Savannah Parks is an alternate for the 400 relay for the BC girls.
Cutter Thatcher is ready to go in five events for the BC boys. That includes the 200, 400, 300 hurdles, long jump and relay.
BC junior Aaron Richards won BC’s lone Western A Divisional title last week. He captured the discus crown. Richards will also throw the shot put.
Junior Thomas McGree will run he 110 hurdles along with the long jump and both relays.
Senior Luke Jensen will run both relays and high jump, while classmate Clay Fisher will run the 100 and both relays.
Junior Ryan Wahl will throw the discus, and sophomore Egan will make the trip as a relay alternate.
