The Butte High Bulldogs improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Western AA last night as they held off a feisty Missoula Big Sky team on the road last night. Butte High led most of the way but the Eagles wouldn’t go down easy. They took a 23-22 lead after a blocked punt and a 25 yard TD return to the house.
Butte didn’t budge though as they would march back down the field and and hand it to senior running back Trey Hansen who would rush for a 3 yard touchdown to put the Dogs back on top 28-23. The Bulldog defense continues to impress and impose their will on their opponents.
The Bulldogs looked to pull away late in the 4th quarter after a Bo Demarais rushing touchdown, but Big Sky would collect themselves and come right back down the field and score to make it 36-29. That would be all she wrote for the Eagles as the Bulldogs hang on to win a big game.
The Bulldogs sit in second place behind the Missoula Spartans who are also 3-1 and 2-0 in the Western AA.
Butte High will travel to Flathead next week to take on the Braves who are on a 2 game skid after losing to powerhouse Missoula Sentinel 46-7 last night.
We will update game and player stats in this story as they become available.
