Bulldogs impress in tune up

BOZEMAN — The Bozeman Hawks swept the team scores in a dual meet with Butte High Thursday at Van Winkle Stadium.

Butte High, though, returned home with some solid performances in the team’s final tune up before next week’s Eastern AA Divisional meet. (Results)

The Hawks won boys’ race 202-112. Bozeman took the girls’ victory 207-94.

Nine Bulldogs won at least one event, with sophomore Anna Trudnowski leading the way. She won the high jump and triple jump, while taking home second in the 100 hurdles.

She registered a personal record by clearing 5 feet, 5 inches in the high jump. Trudnowski’s mark of 34-9 in the triple jump is a state qualifying mark.

Senior Ally Cleverly won the 200 meters in a time of 27.5 seconds She also took third in the 100.

Freshman Mollee Conlan won the 100 meters in 13.17 seconds, while Hailey Neilson was the only finisher in the 3,200, posting a winning time of 12 minutes, 40 seconds.

Sophomore Allyson Mueller won the javelin with a mark of 109-2.

Gabbie Parini ran to second in the 200 meters, and Hailey Herron took second in the discus and fourth in the shot put. Christiana Beierle took second in the pole vault, just ahead of teammate Gabby Haberman.

Braleigh Garrett, who took fifth in the long jump, finished third in the 100 hurdles. Madalynn Rhodes took third in the javelin.

Junior Tommy Mellott jumped 20 feet to win the long jump. He also took second in the 100 and 200.

Junior Quinn Sullivan reached a qualifying mark by winning the 300 hurdles in 41.31 seconds.

Senior Jake Vetter won the 400 meters, crossing in 52.36, and sophomore Tanner Huff won the javelin with a launch of 166-4.

Josh Neil took second in the long jump and third in the 100. Aidan Pezdark took second in the triple jump and third in the long jump.

Sophomore Christian Vetter’s mark of 20-5 in the junior varsity long jump would have been good enough to win the varsity event.

Also for Butte High, Zach Carlson took second in the 400, Konnor McClafferty placed third in the javelin and fourth in the shot put, Billy Kelly finished third in the high jump, and Christian Hansen finished third in the triple jump.

The Bulldogs head back to Van Winkle Stadium next Friday and Saturday for the divisional meet.
