DILLON — The Butte High volleyball team got into the win column Thursday night.
The Bulldogs grabbed that elusive first win of the season by knocking off the Dillon Beavers in five sets at the B.W. Lodge Gymnasium.
Dillon outscored Butte High 25-17 in the opener of the non-conference match before the Bulldogs battled back to take the next two 25-23 and 25-10. After Dillon forced a tiebreaker with a 25-21 win, the Bulldogs put the victory away with a 15-2 win in the fifth set.
“We were ready for a win and we got one,” Butte High coach Katrina Berg said. “Hoping it brings the girls the confidence to do it again down the road. They played great and I am proud of them for finishing it.”
Senior Abby Dodge had a huge match for the Bulldogs, pounding 17 kills on 39 attempts. Cameron Cassidy and Alissa Bernhardt each added eight kills in the win, while Sam Krzan (17) and Bethany McMahon (14) combined for 31 assists.
Libero Keeley Pochervina collected 21 digs. Jenna Maroney joined her in double figures in that category with 11.
The Bulldogs are off until next Thursday when they travel to Bozeman for an Eastern AA match.
