Bulldogs fall to No. 4

Butte High’s football team fell to No. 4 in the latest Associated Press Power Poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon.

Butte High fell 34-28 to Helena High last Friday in Helena. The Bengals are the new No. 1 team.

Kalispell Glacier is No. 2, followed by Billings West. Great Falls Russell is No. 5.

Helena and Glacier both received three first-place votes. Billings West got the other two. Only eight voters participated in the poll. Associated Press members from around the state are eligible to vote. Two weeks ago, the poll had 13 voters when Russell was ranked No. 1.

The Bulldogs own wins over Russell and West. They don’t play Glacier in the regular season

The poll used to be fun and actually maybe have some credence but not this year. Once again, big surprise Butte is behind a team they have the same record with and dominated in the head to head game. Maybe just maybe the final poll of the season will reflect real life but not counting on it.

Would take the media- out of the voting. Most fans know the teams better and are less bias. Lets face it the guys at billingsgazette are going to vote for Skyview, West, Senior every time we’ve already seen that this year.

Make it a fan/ coach’s poll where the coach’s can vote if they want to or have time.

Isn’t it a surprise that when the media has no other choice than to vote for Butte (or not to vote for their team ahem…CMR) the number of votes that are cast dwindle?
