BILLINGS — Saturday was not a good day for the Butte High soccer teams.
Billings Senior swept the Bulldogs in a pair of Eastern AA matches. The Broncs won the boys’ match 8-0, and Senior’s girls won 6-0.
Riley McNabb, the head coach of both teams, said the Bulldogs were worn out playing for the second time in less than 24 hours on a hot day. Butte High fell twice in battles with Billings West late Friday.
“They were worn out,” McNabb said of his Bulldogs. “Both teams played hard against West.”
On the girls’ side, McNabb praised the play of goalkeeper Patyon Carver, who registered 21 saves.
“Ally cleverly and Aspen (Lovshin) played well in the middle, and Justise Birkenbuel and Rylee Gonzales played awesome at center back.”
McNabb said failed to capitalize on early opportunities cost the Bulldogs in the boys’ game.
“We missed a couple opportunities early and it set the tone for the majority of the rest of the game,” the coach said.
The Bulldogs don’t have much time to rest. They play at Bozeman on Tuesday.
