ANACONDA — The losing streak is over.
Dallas Cook returned to the Snake Pit tonight and led the Butte High boys’ basketball team to a 55-44 win over the Anaconda Copperheads. The victory snapped Butte High’s nine game losing streak. The Bulldogs’ last victory was Jan. 3 at home against Great Falls High.
Cook, a junior who played varsity for the Copperheads as a freshman, scored a game-high 16 points for his team despite being the focus of the Anaconda defense.
He was one of three Bulldogs in double figures. Cory Farstveet, who played through an illness, scored 12 points, while Killian O’Leary tossed in 11. Also, Jake Dennehy scored eight points, Brian Smith netted five and Zach Bunney scored three.
Jackson Wagner and Jade Green scored 12 points apiece to pace the Copperheads. Caleb Stetzner tossed in nine.
The Bulldogs, who avenged a bitter loss from the last time they played in the Snake Pit in 2011, now lead the storied series with the Copperheads 117-108 all time.
Butte High is off until next Friday and Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Billings to take on Skyview and West.
