MISSOULA — Butte High’s Mollee Conlan and Gavin Vetter picked up victories Saturday at the Western Montana AA Freshman meet at Missoula County Stadium. (Results)
Conlan won the 100-meter race with a time of 13.19 seconds. She also placed fifth in the 200.
Vetter won the pole vault, clearing 11 feet for the victory. He ran to eighth place in the 800 as well.
Butte High placed eighth out of eight in boys’ and girls’ standings. Still, Butte High put up some strong individual efforts before leaving town.
Ashley Olson placed fourth in the shot put for Butte High’s girls. Payton Bailey took seventh in the long jump. The other Butte High girl to post a top-10 performance was Kieyrah Killoy, who took 10th in the triple jump. She also long jumped to 14th.
Jaric Sparks of Butte High took second in the pole vault at 9 feet. Butte teammates Jakob Nielsen, Brayden Cetraro, Cole Worley and Trey Whitlock tied for eighth place in the pole vault at 8 feet.
Cetraro also placed fourth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump, while Whitlock took ninth in the 1,600 and 15th in the 800.
John Connole chalked up top-five performances in both hurdles races. He took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth in the 300 hurdles.
Mike O’Dell placed 10th in the 400. Butte High also ran to third in the 1,600-meter relay. The Bulldogs took fifth in the 400 relay.
The Bulldogs will compete in another freshman meet Thursday in Great Falls.
