KALISPELL — The Butte High softball team but on an fireworks show Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs used 17 hits to bombard Kalispell Flathead for a 22-3 Western AA victory, completing a 2-0 weekend in the Flathead Valley. (Boxscore)
Saturday’s win came less than 24 hours after Butte High beat Kalispell Glacier 4-1.
“I’m proud of the girls,” Butte High coach Ryan Stosich said. This is a tough trip. To come up her and get two wins is big for them and big for the program.”
Senior Jordyn Bolton and freshman Brityn Stewart hit back-to-back home runs to highlight Butte’s 14-run first inning.
Bolton went 4 for 4 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Freshman Ashlinn Mullaney smacked two doubles, and junior Cami Kautzman hit one.
Seniors Kodie Hoagland and Rian Ferriter each hit a pair of singles. Hoagland scored three times, and Ferriter knocked in two runs.
Bryn Godbout, Kamber Leary, Joscelyn Cleveland, Maddi Jonart and Madisyn Swanson also joined the hit parade. Cleveland, a senior, drove in three runs. Godbout and Leary each scored three times. Godbout, Ferriter and Leary also walked twice apiece.
Ferriter pitched the distance to pick up the win. She struck out eight batters and walked two in five innings of one-hit ball.
Laynee Vessar singled for Flathead’s lone hit.
The Bulldogs, 5-2 in conference and 5-6 overall, won for the fifth time in six games.
“They’re coming along,” Stosich said. “We have to clean up a few things, and they’ll be alright.”
Butte High will play host to Missoula Big Sky Tuesday at Stodden Park.
