KALISPELL — Butte High’s tennis teams made some progress in the wind and cold Saturday.

Butte High’s girls battled to a 4-all tie with Missoula Big Sky. The Bulldogs fell 6-2 to Missoula Big Sky.

On the boys’ side, Sentinel topped Butte High 6-2. Big Sky won 7-1. The Bulldogs gave up three forfeits in each dual.

“It was cold, but everyone did some good things today,” Bulldog coach Dorothy Joyce said.

Butte’s girls picked up three wins in doubles against Sentinel. Brooke McGrath and Katie Keller won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles. Ashley Olson and Sevanna Challeen did the same at No. 2.

Murphy Sullivan and Jaycee Cleveland rolled at No. 4, and Ellie Quist picked up a straight sets win at No. 4 singles.

Olson and Challeen won again against Big Sky, as did Murphy and Cleveland.

Isaac King and Jason Johns won in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to lead the Bulldog boys against Sentinel. Sam Sampson won at No. 3 against Big Sky.

Butte High will head to Bozeman Friday for a meet that involves Bozeman, Belgrade and the Helena schools.
