Bulldogs are No. 1, so who’s No. 2?

It is a given that Butte High’s magical run to the Class AA State football title is the top sports story of the 2012 in the Mining City.

Butte High’s thrilling overtime victory over Great Falls Russell in the semifinals came just six days before Jake Dennehy booted a last-second 46-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs a 38-36 win over Bozeman in the championship game in front of an estimated crowd of 8,000 at Naranche Stadium.

The title was the first for Butte High since 1991.

We figured any poll voting on the top sports story of the year would be silly and basically a waste of time. A poll on what was the No. 2 sports story of the year — good or bad — is another story.

Vote on the story that you think can hold a candle to the Bulldog title. If your No. 2 story didn’t make the list, feel free to vote by leaving a comment.
