Bulldogs aim for state title

Two years ago, Butte High’s golf team place second at the Class AA state tournament in Butte.

Starting Tuesday in Missoula, the Bulldogs will try to one up the best accomplishment by a Butte High golf team in a generation.

The state tournament begins Tuesday at the Missoula Country Club. Wednesday’s final round will be at the Canyon River Golf Club.

Butte High’s girls, who placed fourth at state last year in Great Falls, enter the tournament with a handful of tournament victories under their belts. They also have three returning All-State players in Hailey Hoagland, Shealyn Hafer and Hailey Ogolin.

Megan Ingersoll has had a solid season for Butte High, while Alexis Williams adds potential to help the Bulldogs post a low score.

The Bulldog girls are looking for their first state title since Butte High won back-to-back titles in 1984 and 1985.

On the boys’ side, Will Kilmer and Trey Hoagland lead the Bulldogs into action. Levin Mullaney and Houston Green have been steady all season for the Bulldogs, while Tucker Thatcher broke into the varsity lineup late in the season.
