Bulldogs swimmers swim to 3rd and 4th place finishes

Butte High boys and girls had their first swim meet. The meet was at the Butte YMCA.

Teams in attendance were: Belgrade, Butte, East Helena, Helena High, and Helena Capital.
The girls place 3rd and the boys took 4th.

The girls were led by senior, Lily Jaksha who took first in the 50 free swimming a best time by over a second. She also placed 4th in the 500 free; an event she has never swam.

Senior Joci Petroni had a best time in both her 100
and 200 Freestyle events. She placed 6th in
each. Freshman, Alaina Grochowski, took 3 in the 200 Freestyle and 2nd in the 100 breast.

Sophomore, Olivia Thurmond took 4th in the 50 free. Sophomore, Tatum Trefts, had a best time in the 200IM to take 3rd. Freshman, Nimalka DeAlwis, took 3rd in the 100 fly. The girls 200 Medley relay team of Alaina Grochowski, Tatum Trefts, Lily Jaksha and

Olivia Thurmond took 2nd. The 200 Free Relay of Lily Jaksha, Tatum Trefts, Nimalka DeAwlis, and Alaina Grochowski took 3rd. For the the 400 free relay of JociPetroni, Nimalka DeAwlis, Sophia Fladger, and Brianna Komm took 4th. The boys were led by Sophomore, Nathan Stone who took 2nd in both the 500 free and 200 free. Junior, Ziah Garza, took 2nd in the 50 free, and 6th in the 100 fly.

Freshman, Gage Plum, had a best time in the 200 MI and the 100 breast, taking 4th in both. The 400 free relay of Nathan Stone, Ziah Garza, Gage Plum, and Levi Balentine took 3rd. Coach Shrader said “I’m very proud of how everyone swam. We have a few new swimmers who have never swam before, and am excited to see their improvements.”

Butte will head to the waters in Missoula for their next meet.
