Butte High’s swimming team will send 17 competitors to the MHSA State Swim Meet at the Great Falls High pool.

The top six athletes in each race earn All-State honors.

The finals will take place on Saturday.

Butte High senior Catherine Russo will close out her remarkable career with the Bulldogs. The future Ohio State Buckeye will look for her fourth straight title in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly.

Russo, who qualified for the U.S. Olympic Swim Team Trials in Omaha, Nebraska in June, also has a handful of All-State performances in relay races. She will be one of 10 girls competing for the Bulldogs.

Also swimming for Butte High’s girls will be seniors Marie Ingersoll, Abby Malyevac and Danika Murphy; juniors Kallie Hossack, Tori Matteson, Hannah Morin-Ferguson and Anna Trudnowski; and sophomores Isabel Russo and Carly Trefts.

Competing for the Bulldog boys will be seniors Max Holdsworth and Josh Nelson; juniors Colby Regan and Evan Zundel; sophomore Thad Holdsworth; and freshmen Maece Garza and Ladd Hutchinson.
