Bulldog softball drops two at Class AA Crossover

GREAT FALLS — Saturday was just not the Bulldogs’ day.

That is how Butte High softback coach Ryan Stosich characterized his team’s performance at the first Class AA Crossover Tournament.

Butte High fell 10-0 to defending Class AA champion Belgrade. Then, Butte High dropped a 15-0 decision to Great Falls Russell. Stosisch said he played mostly junior varsity players in the second game.

Games did not count in standings, and statistics are all unofficial. Butte High did not keep a book in either game.

“I’m glad they didn’t count,” Stosich said.

Stosich pointed to a pair of hits by leadoff batter Kodie Hoagland and another by Bryn Godbout in the first game. He said Rian Ferriter pitched well, but the defense committed seven errors behind her.

The Bulldogs will get back to games that count next week. They are scheduled to play Helena High at home Tuesday.

However, Stosich said that Western AA game could be moved to Wednesday because of the poor weather forecast for Tuesday.
