Bulldog Soccer Falls to Glacier Wolf Pack

Boys

The Butte High boys’ soccer team continued their road trip in Kalispell with a match against Glacier this morning. Although the final score may not look great, the Bulldogs competed very well in the 80 minute competition, except for a 15 minute stretch in the first half. Aside from that stretch, the game was a 0-0 tie. The Wolf Pack was able to capitalize on small Bulldog mistakes to quickly put in 6 goals and led 6-0 at the half.
In the second half, the “never give up” Bulldogs held the 2021 Class AA runners-up scoreless. The Bulldogs had numerous chances to score in a game, that at one point, had three 8th grade Bulldogs on the field at the same time. Butte High could never quite find the net. Final score 6-0 Glacier.
Coach Carpenter said, “This week our team will work hard on our foot control of the ball. If we can learn to be consistent for an entire 80 minutes, I think we can be very competitive. I saw a lot of great things from our team on this weekend road trip. Most importantly, I appreciated the effort given and sportsmanship on the field.”

Girls

The girls’ team put in a ton of good effort, but with injuries and a tough competition yesterday, they just couldn’t compete with Glacier. Reagan Brisendine scored the majority of Glacier’s goals, and Butte High didn’t have an answer for such a talented competitor. Glacier ended up winning the match with a final score of 10-0.

Coach Shahan said, “We’re looking forward to rest and recovery, a good week of practice, and getting back to full strength.”

The Bulldogs hope to get healthy as they next travel to Missoula Sentinel on September 17th for a match against the Spartans.
