The Butte High Bulldog boys soccer team closed out their season against the Kalispell Glacier Wolfpack at Bulldog Memorial Stadium. Before the game, seniors Boyd Dewitt, Jack Luoma, Jake Ricci, and Ethan Zimmerman were honored and it was clear that these 4 boys did not want their season to end. After Butte High found themselves in a 9 goal deficit in the first half, senior leadership led a valiant Bulldog comeback effort before conference champion Glacier eventually won the match 11-3.
The Bulldogs were quickly overcome by the speed and strength of the Wolfpack in the first half. However, the Bulldogs made some adjustments defensively and then answered by scoring 3 goals themselves. Boyd Dewitt closed his Bulldog career by scoring all 3 goals on 2 Jack Luoma assists and a Jake Ricci corner kick.
Butte High head coach Cody Carpenter shared, “senior day is always an emotional one for me. It will be hard to let these young men move on but that’s my role–raise them up and send them out to be leaders in the world. Our team showed such resilience and determination, and I’m so proud of them for battling to the end of the game.”
The Bulldogs finished in 7th place in the western AA conference–only the top 6 make the playoffs.
