The Bozeman Swim Center will set the scene Friday and Saturday as 15 Butte High swimmers look to collect medals at the state swim meet.
Action begins at 11 a.m. each day.
Junior Catherine Russo will be seeking her fifth and sixth individual state titles when she competes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Russo, who also has multiple All-State finishes in relays, is the two-time defending champion in both events.
Senior Zach Johnson leads the Butte High boys. He’ll be swimming the 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle, as well as the relays. Johnson placed third in the 100 and fourth in the 50 last year in Great Falls, earning All-State in both categories.
The top six individuals in each event, and Bulldog coach Lynn Shrader said a change in format will help the Bulldogs this season. This year, the Class A and Class B will be separated into a final. The Class AA will have a finals race for the top six and a consolation race for the next six.
Swimmers who place in the top 12 score team points. Each swimmer had to reach a qualifying time for state during the season.
