Two members of the Butte High cross country and track teams ventured to Pocatello, Idaho to take on some of the best runners on the west coast in the prestigious Simplot Games.
Camden Houchin and Kaden Hennessey both raced in their second indoor meet of the season.
Both of these Bulldog runners followed up stellar performances in Bozeman with outstanding results on Thursday night and Friday afternoon.
Houchin ran in just his third indoor race ever. He ran an outstanding time of 5:05 for the 1600 meters. This placed him in the top 10 of all freshmen runners. Houchin nearly made the finals where the top eight runners advance.
Kaden Hennessey, a senior runner, participated in his first Simplot Games and just his third indoor track meet. Hennessey ran in the 800 meter race, running a 2 second PR. Kaden nearly pulled off winning his heat as he finished third with a time of 2:15.
The runners got an opportunity to run in a meet that should prepare them very well for the competition they will face in the upcoming outdoor season . The amount of dedication and commitment to the winter training has been very good with the entire group (of 7 runners). I am especially pleased with Kaden and Camden for racing in such a big event like the Simplot Games. They were definitely nervous, but their results are showing progress toward an incredible outdoor season.
