Bulldog, Maroon runners head to State

Butte High and Butte Central’s cross country runners look to close out what they have to consider a strong season Saturday when they head to Helena for the State meet.

The 3-mile races will take place on the Bill Roberts Golf Course. For the Bulldogs, the meet wraps up a grueling season that began in earnest during the Purple and White race on Aug. 27.

Promising freshman Nick Raiser leads the Bulldogs into the meet. He’s followed by seniors Kody Lane and Cooper Fisher, junior Forest Kultgen, seniors Hunter Biegler and Kolby Thretheway and junior Kobi Cradock.

On the girls’ side, butte high will send senior Jordan Duffy and juniors Kendall Alley, Mariah Richardson, Andie Hogan, Bailee Hanson, Erika McLeod and Haley Hodge.

Butte Central doesn’t have any girls runners. The Maroons, will have a state score for the first time in a decade. BC will send six runners to the race.

Conor McGee and freshman Shannon Tempel earned All-Conference honors at last week’s Southwestern A Divisional meet in Corvallis. Also running for the Maroons will be sophomore Clay Stillwagon, junior Jarett Larson and freshmen Connor Larson and Patrick O’Herron.

The meet begins with the Class A girls at 11 a.m. The A boys go at 12:20, while the AA girls start at 1:45 and the AA boys wrap up action at 2:50 p.m.
