Bulldog, Maroon runners head to state meet

Helena’s Bill Roberts golf course will set the scene as the Butte High and Butte Central cross country runners close out the season Saturday at the 2017 MHSA State Cross Country Meet.

The Class A boys’ race will begin at 11 a.m., and that race will include three Butte Central runners. Running for the Maroons will be seniors Brian McGeehan and Nathan Ortega and sophomore Jayden Mitchell.

BC freshman Savannah Parks will run in the Class A girls’ race at noon.

At 1:40 p.m., the gun will fire to begin the boys’ Class AA race.

Butte High has seniors Austin Gerry and Erik Casagranda signed up for that race along with juniors Jake Vetter, Billy Cunneen and Zach Carlson and sophomores Brok Martin and Sean Foley.

Seniors Garrett Miller and Ryan Moore are alternates for the Butte High boys.

Butte High freshman Aubree Corcoran will look to continue her impressive season when the Class AA girls’ race takes off at 2:45 p.m.

Corcoran will be joined by fellow Butte High freshmen Hailey Tonneson and Anna Trudnowski, sophomore Danika Murphy, juniors Gabby Haberman and Helena Schoonen, and senior Rosie Real.
