Bulldog JV splits in Belgrade

BELGRADE — Butte High’s junior varsity softball team split a doubleheader non-conference doubleheader with Belgrade Friday.

Belgrade outslugged Butte High 18-13 in the opener. The Bulldogs bounced back to win the second game 17-16.

The Bulldogs pounded 22 hits in the opener. Bryn Godbout struck out nine batters over seven strong innings.

Natalie Lynch went 4 for 5 with a hum run and four runs scored to lead the Bulldog offense. Kamber Leary also went 4 for 5.

Taylor Drakos and Pieper Joseph each smacked three hits in the game. Cami Kautzman, Dacelyn Lafond, Grace Vincent and Godbout each added two.

Leary pitched five strong innings before Godbout came on for two innings to get the save in Game 2.

Lynch, Godbout and Koryn Paul each belted three hits in the win. Lafond added two hits to go along with two stolen bases and some great defense at short stop. Joseph, who coaches say hit the ball hard all day, added a pair of hits. Drakos also singled in the win.

The Bulldogs will play their first home games Tuesday when Helena High comes to town for a Western AA twin bill.
