Butte High’s junior varsity team ran its winning streak to six games to start the season Monday afternoon at Stodden Park.
This time, the Bulldogs pounded seven extra-base hits in a 22-6 victory over Dillon’s varsity team. (Boxscore)
Freshman Brityn Stewart had a huge day from the leadoff spot to lead the red-hot Bulldogs. She went 4 for 5 with a triple, two doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored.
Taylor Drakos went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored for the Bulldogs, who scored eight runs in the bottom of the first and six in the second. After Dillon got on the board to cut the lead to 14-2 in the third, Butte High responded with seven more runs.
Drakos, Gracie Ferriter, Dacelyn Lafond and Kamber Leary doubled in the win. Twelve Bulldogs batted in the game, and each of them reached base.
Madisyn Swanson, Natalie Lynch and Madi Jonart singled. Lafond joined scored three runs, while Swanson scored two. Cami Kautzman and Kiana Wetzel each worked a pair of walks. And Ashby Lee and Hailey Skeel each drew one free pass.
Leary pitched the first wo innings, and Lee closed the game out. Both struck out three batters.
Adyson Creighton and Abby Johnston doubled to lead the Bears. Lexi Johnston and Patsea Farrow each hit two singles.
The Bulldogs look to continue their streak Tuesday when they take on Missoula Sentinel at 3 p.m. The varsity follows at 4:45.
Butte High will travel to Belgrade for a doubleheader on Wednesday.
