Bulldog golfers split in Bozeman

BOZEMAN — Butte High’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams split a dual with the Bozeman Hawks Thursday at the Bridger Creek Golf Course.

Butte High’s girls team picked up a victory in convincing fashion with four Bulldogs placing in the top five.

Hailey Hoagland won the dual with an 81. Shealyn Hafer placed second at 81, while Hailey Ogolin was fourth at 85 and Megan Ingersoll took fifth at 91.

The dual was good news in more ways than one for the Bulldogs, who saw the return of promising freshman Alexis Williams.

Williams, who played the first couple tournaments with a broken wrist, shot a 99.

Complete results are not yet available for the tournament.

Bozeman’s boys, who are a bona fide state title contender, won big.

Butte High coach Eric Mankins said the Hawks scores were 71, 71, 73, 73, 73 on the par 71 course.

Will Kilmer’s 78 paced the Bulldogs. Trey Hoagland shot an 80, while Houston Green hit 82, Levin Mullaney carded an 84 and Tucker Thatcher shot 89.

Butte High also sent a junior varsity team. Eric Fogerty shot 84, Andy Kelly hit 89, Eric Kenneally shot 96, Zach Hanni hit 102 and Marcus Lynch shot 105.
