Bulldog girls use long ball to bring down Bison

GREAT FALLS — Butte High’s girls’ basketball team hit on 11 shots from 3-point land Saturday, and the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in the Eastern AA with a 56-39 win over Great Falls High.

Ally Cleverly hit four 3-pointers and scored 22 points to lead the Bulldogs (4-2) to their straight victory. Justise Birkenbuel came off the bench and hit three 3-poitners, while Aspen Lovshin and Brittney Tierney each sank a pair of long balls.

The Bulldogs led 19-14 after the first quarter. They took control with an 18-1 second quarter.

Lovshin scored 16 points in the win. Birkenbuel finished with nine, and Tierney scored eight points. The Bulldogs also got four points form Makenna Carpenter and Haley Herron. McCaul McCarthy scored one.

MacKenzie Tutty, Trisha Ericson and Grace McGrath also contributed for the Bulldogs.

Orgie Hawthorne scored 11 points for the Bison, who shot 24 free throws to Butte High’s four. Hadlee Bleskin tossed in 10.

The Bulldogs are back in action Tuesday for a non-conference battle with Dillon at the Butte Civic Center.
