Bulldog girls make it 6 straight W’s over BC

The City Championship took place Friday night as the Cross Town Rivalry was the first featured showcase, the Bulldog girls were looking for their 6th straight victory over the Maroons. Butte Central started with an early 4-0 lead before Ashlinn Mullaney hit a corner 3 to make it 4-3 with just under 2 minutes to go in the opening period. Butte Centrals Ali Stajcar came right back down and drilled a triple of her own to push the BC lead to 7-3 with 1:34 to play.

Brit Stewart would hit a nice little floater just inside the elbow, with 20 seconds left Cadence Graham canned a triple to give the Dogs an 8-7 lead after one.

Coming out in the second quarter Mullaney buried another corner three leading to a Butte Central turnover on their next possession caused by Cadence Graham who took it to the rack and drew the foul for the and 1, 17-7 Bulldogs.

Ashlinn Mullaney and Cadence Graham were all over the place rebounding stealing assisting and scoring as Graham found Mullaney on a beauty of a pass for the fast-break bucket. Off a nice entry pass Dylan Bartoletti sealed her defender off, got the pass and went up for 2 more Bulldog points leading to a Quinn Carter timeout with 5:27 to play 18-7 Butte High.

Caden Tippett came out of the timeout and hit a corner triple, but the Bulldogs kept attacking a Brityn Stewart three-point play followed by a pair of Taylor Drakos free throws gave the Dogs a commanding 12-point lead.

Mollie Drew would check back in and do what she does best and score a bucket down low to cut the Bulldog lead to 10 with just under 4 minutes to play. After a Catherine Sholey bucket the Dogs would push their lead to 15 with just under a minute to play in the first half.

Great rebounding and tempo propelled the Dogs to yet another fast-break bucket by Mullaney on a great dish from Jaycee Cleveland, Dylan Bartoletti would nail a shot at the buzzer to give the Dogs a 31-12 lead at the half.

Brit Stewart began the scoring in the second half for the Bulldogs as she canned a corner triple. Mollie Drew would score a bucket for the Maroons 34-14 Bulldogs, in a sluggish quarter for both teams Catherine Sholey and Dylan Bartoletti swarmed the Maroons to push their lead to 38-15 with a minute to play in the 3rd leading to a BC timeout.

Ali Stajcar would drill a deep 3 for Butte Central cutting the lead to 20. Ashlinn Mullaney continued to let it rain from deep as she splashed home another 3 ball and would come back down their next possession clean up the glass and lay another in for two more Bulldog points, 45-20 Butte High.

Zayanna Otherbull hit a beautiful corner triple out of a BC timeout, 45-23 Bulldogs with 3 to play. Mollie Drew would continue to do her part to chip away at the Bulldog lead as she cashed in another deuce.

Mullaney and the Dogs were just to much for the Maroons to handle tonight and the Dogs get their 6th straight win over Butte Central in The City Championship.

Butte High would go on to win 52-26 after big night from Ashlinn Mullaney who hit three triples and led the Bulldogs with 15 points, Brityn Stewart had 9, Dylann Bartoletti had 8, Taylor Drakos had 7, Cadence Graham had 6, Catherine Sholey had 4, and Gracie Ferriter had 3.

Butte Central was led by senior Mollie Drew with 12 points, Ali Stajcar had 6, Caden Tippett and Zayanna Otherbull had 3 apiece and Kenzie McQueary had 2 for the Maroons.
