Bulldog girls bounce back in Billings

BILLINGS — Maria Michelotti and Sammy McGree both tossed in 11 points, and Butte High’s girls’ basketball team picked up its first Eastern AA victory with a 55-47 win at Billings Skyview.

In all, 10 Bulldogs scored as Butte High improved to 4-6 overall and 1-3 in conference in the win that came less than 24 hours after a loss at Billings Senior.

“It’s tough coming back on less than 24-hours rest,” Bulldog coach Liza Dennehy said. “The girls did a nice job.”

Mariah Richardson scored nine points for Butte High, which took the lead with a 21-13 second quarter.

Ashten McCloskey, Bethany McLean, Lexi Murphy and Andie Hogan each tossed in four points in the victory. McKaul Ori and Kassidy Caprara scored three apiece, and Ellie Hoffenbacker tossed in two.

Hailey Copinga’s 17 points paced Skyview, which fell to 2-8 and 1-3. Ronnie Harris scored 12.

Butte High is back in action Thursday at home against Great Falls Russell. The Bulldogs head to Great Falls High on Saturday.
