GREAT FALLS — Going just by team scores, you will not see a ton of progress by the Butte High girls’ track team at the chilly Great Falls Optimist Club Track Meet at Memorial Stadium.
The Bulldogs scored just three points and finished at the bottom of the pack of a loaded Class AA field. (Results)
Butte High, though, reached a handful of season and personal records Saturday.
Helena High won the team title with 131.5 points, easily topping second place Billings West’s 77.5. Missoula Sentinel placed third at 75, and Missoula Hellgate took fourth at 69.
Seniors Hailey Pack and Mollie Conlan, a pair of future Montana Tech Orediggers, picked up Butte’s only top-10 performances.
Pack placed seventh in the shot put with a PR mark of 33 feet 11 ½ inches. Conlan took eighth in the 100 with a time of 13.01, which is a season best.
Madison Seaholm posted a personal record in the 100. She also picked up season-best times in the 200 and 400.
Gabriel McPeak posted PRs in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, and Teagan Kennis notched season bests in the long jump and triple jump.
Pieper Joseph, McKenzie Case and Alex Kovnesky all ran personal records in the 800 meters. Joseph also grabbed a PR in the long jump.
Also, Cora Rauch (shot put), Emmarie Richards (100) and Brooke Groesbeck (javelin) added season-best performances.
Butte High’s full team will be back in action next Saturday when the Bulldogs compete at Butte Central’s John Tomich Invitational.
