HELENA — Butte High’s boys’ swimming team picked up a pair of victories at the season-opening Helena-Capital-Butte Swim Duals Friday.

The Bulldogs topped Helena High 416-408 and Helena Capital 429-263. Butte High’s girls dropped both duals, falling 641-360 to Helena and 473-372 to Capital.

Keegan Whelan swam to a pair of first-place finishes for the Bulldogs. The sophomore won the 100-meter backstroke and the 200-meter freestyle.

Senior Blaine Barrington won the 50-meter freestyle, while sophomore Gavin Sison claimed ifrst in the 100 butterfly.

Butte High’s boys also won the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.

Butte High’s girls won the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle, too.

Also, junior Airika Bentley won the 50 freestyle, senior Kayla Sessions took first in the 100 freestyle and  senior Adria Bentley was the fastest in the 100 backstroke.

The Bulldogs will host a meet next Saturday at the Butte YMCA.
