The Butte High boys soccer team hosted the Helena High Bengals this afternoon at the Jeremy Bullock Memorial Soccer Complex. The first time these teams met, the Bulldogs came back from a 1-3 halftime deficit to win 4-3. Today, the Bulldogs came out on top 5-1.
Butte High started a little sluggish and Helena High scored first. The Bulldogs answered with 3 goals before halftime.
At halftime, Coach Cody Carpenter stated, “let’s make sure they don’t come back on us like we did against them up in Helena.”
The Bulldogs responded by adding to their halftime lead and put the game out of reach. However, even though the Bulldogs answered with 2 more goals in the second half, Helena had more shots and controlled possession. Goalkeeper Joe Schrader along with his defense of Zane Fredlund, Bridger Schutte, Reid Whitlock, and Eddie Kazmierczak prevented the Bengals from scoring again.
Coach Carpenter, “I liked the creativity we had on offense today. We scored both on fast breaks and after great passing sequences. We need to build on this variety in our remaining games.”
Butte stats for the game are as follows:
Goals: Cameron Tobiness (2), Jack Luoma (2), Boyd Dewitt.
Assists: Cooper McKee, Riley Doyle, Cameron Tobiness, Jack Luoma (2).
Next up, the Bulldogs travel to Helena Capital on Saturday. And next Tuesday, the Bulldogs with play Missoula Sentinel in Bulldog Memorial Stadium.
