Bulldog boys sit in third at Butte Invitational

GREGSON — The Butte High boys are within striking distance after the first day of the Butte Invitational at the Fairmont Hot Springs Golf Course.

With sophomore Will Hoagland’s 76 and junior Houston Green’s 77 leading the way, the Bulldogs shot a 315 to tie with Billings Skyview. Billings West and Bozeman take a 308 heading into Friday’s 9 a.m. final round.

West’s Joey Moore matched par to take the first-day lead at 72. Billings Skyview’s Payton Stott sits in second at 75. Hoagland’s 76 puts him in a four-way tie for third place with Missoula Sentinel’s Nate Fuge, Bozeman Will Holloran and Helena Capital’s Cory Preshinger.

Senior Trey Hoagland shot an 80, while classmate Eric Fogerty hit 82 and sophomore Isaiah Weldon hit 89.

Bozeman leads the girls’ team standings at 369. The Hawks hold a two-shot lead over Kalispell Glacier. Great Falls High is third at 383. Butte High shot a 460.

Glacier’s Teigan Avery shot a 76 and has a comfortable lead in the individual standings. West’s Hayden Flohr is second at 83, while Bozeman’s Kameryn Basye shot 87. Great Falls Russell’s Rylie Carmichael and Missoula Big Sky’s Shayla Johnson are tied for fourth at 89.

Butte High junior Alexis Williams shot a 90 and is tied for sixth with Bozeman’s Hannah Rosanova. Also for Butte High, Sadie Starcevich shot 113, Katelyn Alley carded a 124 and Kelliann Nery shot 133.
