Bulldog boys punch ticket to state, place 3rd at Divisionals

Butte High 73 Big Sky 45

After losing their rematch to Helena Capital to open play, Butte took it personal the rest of the way as they averaged over 70 points a game the last three of the tournament, including 89 against the Flathead Braves.

The Bulldogs put Helena High away earlier today 79-54 and followed that by crushing the Eagles 73-45 for 3rd place in the Western AA Divisional Tournament, punching their ticket to state in front of their home crowd at the Butte Civic Center next week.

This team is peaking at the perfect time, they are playing some really sound, fundamental basketball and everyone is feeding off of each other. It’s going to be exciting to watch them play next week and see what kind of push they can make; all I can say is I wouldn’t want to play the Bulldogs right now they can beat anyone on any given night with the way they have been playing and putting points on the board.

Jace Stenson led the way with 17 points, Cameron Gurnsey had 12, Tocher Lee had 10, Dylan Bache netted 10, Bo Demarais tossed in 8, Hudson Luedtke had 8, Trey McCarthy had 3, and Cayde Stajcar had 2.

State will begin March 9th and run through the 11th next week in Butte.
