BILLINGS — Butte High’s boys’ soccer team moved above the .500 mark on the season Saturday, beating Billings Skyview 3-1 in an Eastern AA match.
Skyview won the girls’ match 1-0.
Jacob Sholey scored on a penalty kick and Matt Loeffler added a pair of goals to lead the Bulldogs boys to the win. Loeffler scored one goal off a Conor Powers assist. The other was unassisted.
Butte High led 3-0 at halftime and held on to the win in large part to goalkeeper Chad Hicks, who notched 12 saves.
Sholey’s goal came in the game’s eighth minute. Loeffler scored in the 28th and 33rd minutes.
Ryne Icenoggle scored off a Jose Naranjo assist in the 50th minute for the Falcons, who fell to 0-8. Butte High is 3-2-2.
Maria Michelloti saved 20 shots to keep Butte High’s girls in the match. The Falcons, though, didn’t allow a single Butte High shot on goal. Skyview got off 26 shots.
Caylin Cathey’s unassisted goal in the 45th minute was the game-winner.
The Bulldogs are back in action Thursday when they play at Great Falls Russell. They play Great Falls High at home next Saturday.
