Building Champions: The Butte Miners Travel Program

A group of like minded baseball enthusiasts had an idea and ran with it. They are Joey O’Brien who is president and brother of Butte Central’s head baseball coach Richie O’Brien who was also all for this feeder program, followed by Troy Hansen, Jessica Cunneen, Shelly Horsley, Ashely Bair, and the legend himself head coach of Butte High Baseball and The Butte Miners legion team, Jim Leprowse.

The Butte Miners Travel Program offers a unique pathway for young athletes to take their game to the next level. Through rigorous training, expert coaching, and competitive tournaments, players are given the tools they need to reach their full potential. The Butte Miners Travel Program kicked off their season with a bang at the Rust Buster tournament in Billings. This past weekend, the tournament saw an impressive representation of Butte players, fans, and coaches, Anaconda Montana and their kids even get to experience and play with the Butte kids during the program it’s been great all around, with 6 out of the 9 teams hailing from the Smelter and Mining Cities. Stewart Park was buzzing with excitement as Butte left their mark on the field. It’s incredible to see the strong presence and support from the Butte community. The Butte Miners Travel Program is off to a fantastic start, and they’re ready to continue making their mark in future tournaments. Go Butte Junior Miners!

In addition to their local games through the little league programs, the Butte Miners Travel Program will see plenty of action and has an exciting lineup of tournaments ahead. They’ll be hitting the road to showcase their skills in Billings on Mother’s Day weekend, followed by a tournament in Missoula at the end of May. On June 6th and 7th, they’ll be competing in Stevensville, and they’ll wrap up their season on Father’s Day weekend in Helena.

These tournaments provide the players with the opportunity to travel, experience different cities, and showcase their talent on a bigger stage. It’s all about the love of the game and the camaraderie that comes with it. The Butte Miners Travel Program is ready to give it their all and make some unforgettable memories along the way!
