Bucs pull away from Muckers in opener

The Bitterroot Bucs B scored five runs over the final two innings to pull away for an 11-6 win over the Butte Muckers Saturday night at Miners Field at 3 Legends Stadium. (Box)

The game was the home opener for the Butte club.

Dan Barthels smacked a pair of doubles and a single , and Fenn Chinhio went 2 for 3 with a two bagger to lead the Bucs. Bitterroot scored two in the first and three in the second to take the lead for good.

Jakob Nielson tripled, while Eyston Lakala, Hunter Hotalen and Brady Garner each hit a pair of singles to pace the Muckers, who outhit the Bucs 10-8.

Zach Tierney, Max Demarais and Ethan Cunningham also singled for Butte. Kadyn Lester drew a pair of walks. Cunningham, Tyler LeProwse and Rye Doherty also worked free passes.

Mike McGivern struck out five batters in five innings for Butte. Ethan Edwards pitched a pair of innings.

The Miners are back in action next Saturday when they play two at Livingston. The Muckers will host the Missoula Mavericks A in a doubleheader next Sunday at 3 Legends Stadium.

The Butte Miners host the Kalispell Lakers in a twin bill at noon Sunday.
