Bruin boys win first title since 1983

BILLINGS — The Bruins will party like it’s 1983.

Hunter Beto and Carson Dummer each scored 16 points Saturday night at the Rimrock Auto Arena as Helena Capital beat Missoula Hellgate 51-47 in the championship game of the Class AA boys’ state basketball tournament.

The win avenged last year’s overtime loss to the Knights and gave Capital its first state basketball crown in 31 years.

Kyle Nickol added 12 points for the Bruins, who finished the season at 22-1.

Tres Tinkle poured in 24 points to pace the Knights, who close the season at 19-5.
