Browning girls send Maroons to consolation

HAMILTON — This time, the Maroons couldn’t overcome a slow start.

Browning jumped out to a 17-3 lead, and the Indians beat the Maroons 52-18 in the semifinals of the Western A Divisional girls’ basketball tournament on the Dale Berry Court. (Stats)

Taylor Jordon scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Indians (16-5), who take on Columbia Falls in Friday’s 6:30 p.m. championship game.

Dulci Skunkcap added 10 points in the win.

The Maroons (9-12) play Hamilton (13-10) in a 9:30 a.m. loser-out game Saturday at the Hamilton Middle School. The winner of that game advances to the third-place game and punches a ticket to the Class A State tournament March 7-9 in Great Falls.

Emma Keeley’s six points led the Maroons. Sofee Thatcher scored five points, while Shea Davis, Bella Sorini and Avery Kelley each scored two points. Maddi Kump tossed in one for the Maroons, who also got contributions from Tricia Joyce, Delaney Hasquet, Rileigh McGree,  Amira Bolton and Payton Hartwick.
