Break ends for Bulldogs, Maroons, Diggers

A rematch of the Class A girls’ state championship game will highlight action Saturday as athletes from Butte High, Butte Central and Montana Tech return to action following the holiday break.

Butte Central’s boys and girls will both take 4-0 records into 4 p.m. games with Hamilton. The boys will play in Hamilton, while the girls will battle at the Maroon Activities Center.

Hamilton’s girls’ beat Butte Central in the state title game last March in Hamilton.

Montana Tech’s basketball teams will be in Lewiston, Idaho, to take on Lewis-Clark State in Frontier Conference games. The women play at 6:30 p.m. (Mountain Time), while the men tip off at 8:30 p.m.

The Tech women are 1-1 in conference and 5-8 overall. L-C State is 1-1 and 10-3. The Orediggers beat the Warriors 83-57 Dec. 5 in Butte.

On the men’s side, the Orediggers are 0-2 in conference and 6-8 overall. No. 7 L-C State is 1-1 and 13-1. The Warriors beat Tech 84-58 Dec. 5.

The wrestling teams from Butte High and Butte Central will also be in action Saturday. The Bulldogs will compete at the Bozeman Duals, will the Maroons will head to Dillon for a meet.
