LIVINGSTON — The Butte Miners dropped a pair of heart breakers Sunday in an American Legion Baseball doubleheader.
The Miners fell 7-5 in a nine-inning Southern A contest in the opener. They fell 8-7 in extra innings in the non-conference Game 2.
Gunnar Lehrer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, and that proved to be the difference in the opener. Tanner Hall went 4 for 5 for Livingston, while Scott Wilson, Austin Carroll, Colton Gaven, Bobby Wisneski and Colton Landreth each smacked two hits.
Carroll also pitched the distance, striking out 11 in the win.
Nate LeProwse doubled and singled, driving in three runs to pace the Miners’ attack. Cody Sletten, Tristan Frey and Ty Harney each smacked two hits. Jimmy Martz and Dylan McDonald hit one.
LeProwse struck out seven batters in six innings on the hill.
Colton Gavne scored on an error to end the second game in the eighth inning.
Gavne went 3 for 4 with a triple to pace the Braves in the win. Hall and Kalvin Kundra doubled, while Carroll hit two singles.
Trent Maloney doubled, while LeProwse hit two singles to lead the Miners. Hart, Harney, Colten Billteen and Tanner Costello each added a hit for Butte. Harney struck out seven batters in six innings of relief before taking the hard-luck loss.
Kundra pitched the distance and got the win, working around eight walks.
The Miners, who fell to 9-9 overall and 3-3 in conference, head to Helena for a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader against the Reps on Tuesday.
