BOZEMAN — For two sets, Butte High went toe-to-toe with a powerful Bozeman volleyball team.
The Hawks, though, closed out the match with authority for a 25-23, 22-25, 25-13, 25-10 Eastern AA victory over the Bulldogs Tuesday night.
Sutton Vargo tallied 24 kills to lead the Hawks, who out-killed Butte High 64-23.
Kira Mortensen tallied nine kills and a pair of blocks to lead the Bulldogs, who fell to 2-9 in conference and 3-15 overall.
Butte High also got four kills apiece from Brittney Tierney and Cameron Cassidy and three from Emma Field.
Tierney added 13 digs and three aces. Keeley Pochervina also stood out in the Bulldog backcourt with 10 digs. Jenna Maroney dug seven.
Bethanney Foley (11 assists) and Sidney Christie (9) ran the Bulldog attack.
Butte High closes out the regular season Friday at Billings Skyview. Next week, the Bulldogs will be on the road for a playoff match next week.
