BOZEMAN — The Bozeman Hawks swept a boys-girls soccer doubleheader with Butte High Tuesday night.
The Hawks won the girls’ match 7-0 before Bozeman beat Butte High 5-0 in the boys’ match.
Zach Springer scored two goals and assisted in two others to lead the Hawks in the win.
“The boys score line did not reflect the competition the boys gave Bozeman,” Butte High coach Riley McNabb said. “We had plenty of chances to score during the game and just couldn’t capitalize on them. Sophomore Logan Reope played goalie in place of Erik Rosa and had an amazing game, a standout performance, making some saves he isn’t expected to make including blocking a PK.
“Trevyn Roth stepped up today and was forced to play multiple positions and did well in all three spots, Brandon Quinn had a good game at center back he gave 100 percent all game, and Justin McNabb was able to create some dangerous opportunities from the mid field.”
Katie Hayes scored two goals and assisted on one to lead the defending Class AA state champion Bozeman girls.
McNabb said a quick 2-0 deficit changed the complexion of the game.
“Anytime you start a game like that it’s tough,” the coach said. “Aspen Lovshin and Ally Cleverly had a busy day and Payton Carver had some very impressive saves. The score line forced us into putting players in different positions. I applauded Justise Birkenbuel and Lexia Dauenhauer for playing on the backline the whole game and giving 100 percent the whole game.”
The Bulldogs head to Billings Saturday to take on Skyview.
