The “Boyle’s Buddies” basketball game will be played at 7 p.m. Wednesday at East Middle School.
Admission is free for the event that feature’s Special Olympic athletes who were coached by the late Casey Boyle. Boyle and his friend Kyle Burgman were killed in an automobile accident in Butte on Aug. 10, 2015.
The families of the two friends put on the Burgman/Boyle Classic the next four years on the anniversary of the crash. The even featured a Butte High-Butte Central alumni game along with a Special Olympics game. The games were played at the Civic Center, Maroon Activities Center and Butte High’s Richardson Gym.
After missing a year for the pandemic in 2020, the “Boyle’s Buddies” game returned last year at the Felix Madrazo Gym inside the Knights of Columbus Hall.
Last year’s “Boyles Buddies” players were D.J. McCumber, Joe Gibson, Jaymen “Hollywood” Foley, Christian Shock, Josh Mota, Zach “Hemi” Stenson, Kallie Robbins, Bryce “Smiley” Bailey, Dalen Dagen and Tristan Grogan.
Most of those players are expected to return for the 2022 game.
